Overview
A striking, bespoke monochrome interpretation of an iconic mid-century design: a complete matched set of four G Plan Model 4305 'Butterfly' dining chairs, manufactured in High Wycombe by E. Gomme as part of the celebrated late-1950s Librenza range.
Originally designed with exposed wood backrests, the sculptural "floating wing-back" forms of these chairs have been transformed in our Weedon Bec workshop. The sweeping ply backrests and frames have been finished in a soft, architectural Off-Black, creating a unified, dramatic silhouette that complements their ebonised legs.
Paired with newly rebuilt seat pads reupholstered in sleek, supple black leather, this set offers an elevated contemporary edge while honoring the structural lightness and geometry of late-1950s British modernism.
 
Workshop Restoration & Upholstery Details
Custom Painted Finish: The sculptural butterfly wing backs and upper frames have been professionally prepared, primed, and spray-finished in an architectural, Off-Black finish. The result is durable, smooth to the touch.
 Ebonised Legs: The tapered hardwood legs retain their authentic profile.
Full Reupholstery: All four seats have been completely stripped down to the frame, fitted with new fire-retardant (UK Fire Regs compliant) high-density foam, and hand-tailored in smooth black leatherette
Joints & Rigidity: Every dowel and leg joint has been inspected, tightened, and secured. The chairs sit rock-solid with zero wobble.
